The English student at Sterling College utilizes a variety of techniques and critical approaches when analyzing literature. Students evaluate the author’s style and possible messages behind the work. The professors in the English department encourage students to think about how the message is portrayed and how it relates to the current culture, both for the Christian and non-Christian.
The English department at Sterling College is devoted to making its students excellent writers, versed in great literature. Ideally, each student will understand the difference between capital and capitol. Taught with a Christian worldview, majors and minors learn to think critically about how language and literature impact the world around us.
